摘要：The world is facing dramatic growth in electric power demand with associated increases in carbon emissions due to fossil fuel use. High temperature superconductor(HTS) ceramics offer the potential to substantially increase efficiency and capabilities for numerous electric power applications including cables, fault current limiters, transformers, generators, energy storage, and Maglev. This talk will introduce the US Department of Energy HTS Program and research activities at Los Alamos National Lab and in the USA. This review will also summarize international progress towards development of practical superconducting materials and power devices along with technical areas requiring further research and engineering.
