摘要:
While analyses of several isospin effects in heavy-ion reactions have allowed us to constrain significantly the density dependence of nuclear symmetry energy at sub-saturation densities, the new data on pion production from the FOPI/GSI collaboration give us the first experimental evidence of a oftened symmetry energy at supra-saturation densities. Thus, for the first time, we have a partially constrained equation of state for neutron-rich nuclear matter in a broad density range. After reviewing this new and exciting progress in isospin physics, we will examine its impacts on the mass-radius orrelation, moment of inertia, elliptical deformation and gravitational radiation of rapidly rotating neutron stars.
